These images of ‘The Nightingale & The Rose’ depict the sad story of unrequited love and sacrifice by Oscar Wilde. I want to convey the bleak element of this unrequited love. They consist of different elements – ink washes, prints and stencils which are arranged into a semi-abstract composition. In 2005 I was shortlisted for the Student Awards at the V & A  with my series of Nightingale & the Rose images.

I have developed the series of ‘The Nightingale & The Rose’  into a collection of other work which follows the same principles. The compositions remain true to their roots and focuses around the beauty in simplicity. They are almost abstract in their design with limited palette different textures and designs. By keeping the elements simple this gives the compositions more impact and depth.

The Courtyard Theater in London used my image to advertise a play ‘The Love of the Nightingale’ by Timberlake Wertenbaker, from  Greek Mythology.

Here below is a photo of my work hanging in ‘The Brick Lane Gallery’ last November 2014
